Marriage…

There are many moments that help define who you become later in life. For me it was the moment when I was working and traveling as a successful Producer, thoroughly enjoying all aspects of that life; which eventually shaped the path and new direction that my life has taken today.

There is something to be said about finally accepting and loving yourself for who you are and what you have achieved. No one person or event can define this — you truly need to discover it within yourself. Once that occurred for me, it was a catalyst that opened a door for allowing someone special to enter into my life. On a sound stage in Toronto in the late 1990’s, I met my husband. We both came to eventually realize that this particular meeting had a bit of fate wrapped up in it. He hadn’t originally intended to cover this music video shoot, so it was a last minute decision for him to fly into Canada for the job. The Director & crew who were involved in the production were fantastic people which made the day all the more fun and one of the least stressful jobs any of us had done in a while. The shoot was controlled enough that there ended up being a fair amount of time for the two of us to hang out and talk.

There was a spark that day but it wasn’t until he returned home to California that we really started talking and getting to know one another on a deeper level (email was becoming a prevalent means of long distance communication at that time). A few months later, we both found ourselves in New York City for an art / video “happening under the Brooklyn bridge where we again connected. 15 years later, the rest is history.
As with most marriages, i’m sure, things are not always perfect but there has always been such a deep love between us that any rough patches have never impacted us on any grand scale. Each day that passes reminds me of how grateful I am that our paths crossed so fatefully that chilly day in Toronto. Each time our daughter hits a new milestone it reminds me of how lucky we are to live this life together.

My husband is my hero, my soul-mate, (if you believe in that stuff), and the person who completed my life. Each new path we venture down, we do it together and each time we have the full support of one another. This declaration comes from me on the week of our 14th Wedding Anniversary. 14 years of joy, love and commitment to each other…and many more to come.
